From sunny San Antonio, Of Infinity presents itself with a 3-track demo. This musical quartet (even though it's true that
only 3 people appear in the band photo - - - what the heck!) wins my sympathies from the first song "The Voice
Without" . . . And not just because Alessandra Zinicola, a lady with an enchanting voice, is at the mic. Certainly
parallels to Within Temptation are inevitable, however OF INFINITY is far removed from those Hollanders: these 3
songs aren't all about being "chart-useful" music pieces. The opener is a beautiful metalsong, that is carried not only by
the female voice, but also lives through its impressive atmosphere and the alteration-rich songwriting. It is, nevertheless,
a true metalsong, one accompanied by keyboard sounds and fat guitar riffs, concerned with creating a positive basic
mood. Then violins start off "Shadow of A Lie", which can best be described as real "Ohrenschmaus" (translation note:
literally "the mouse that gets stuck in ones ear"; figuratively, a song that you can't get out of your head). But with that,
one isn't dealing with a pure ballad, but rather, refreshed by a beautiful metalsong with quieter passages. The three
songs from OF INFINITY in general possess a very progressive character, one that, however, fits well with the
musicians. Alternation is always written large by Texans, and that's what makes the music from OF INFINITY so
approachable. Also the last song of the bunch, "It's Only For Forever", a beautiful, vigorous mid-tempo ballad, is
absolute unto itself and can likewise convince you of the entire line. Any of you who have found something to like in The
Gathering, should immediately try to get hold of the OF INFINITY demo. "The Essence Of Infinity" is a really strong
demo to start with from the Texans. OF INFINITY is a metal band to be taken seriously, one that has earned a chance
via its progressive and, at times, symphonic songs and its deep lyrics.
